ABSTRACT

The session will focus on the last results concerning the development and the application of non-invasive methods for analysis and diagnostic in cultural heritage field. The need for detailed information about compositional and structural characteristics of objects realized with different materials and variegates techniques, actually pushes for a constant effort in the development of new instrumentation used for the application of all these methodologies. A further aim of this session is the optimization of simultaneous uses of many different and complementary methods on the same case, widening the global observation capability and providing a more complete set of information.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS

Paola Fermo, is full professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Milan. The research topics are in the field of environmental analytical chemistry as well as analytical chemistry applied to cultural heritage. Principal investigator of numerous projects. Author of about 180 scientific publications on international peer-review journals with h-index (Scopus)= 43 and about 4900 citations (Scopus); author of 20 book chapters. Invited speaker in international congresses and member of the editorial board of international journals (Atmosphere, Applied Science, Sustainability, International Journal of Cultural Heritage). Member of the group “100 esperte” (Fondazione Bracco) which includes 100 women scientists in the STEM field. Co-chair of MetroArcheo conference in 2021.

Giuseppe Politi, graduated cum laude in Physics in 1992 and obtained the Ph.D. in Physics in 1996, at University of Catania. He became Assistant Professor in 2000 and he is Associate Professor in Experimental Physics since 2011. His research activity spans from experimental nuclear physics to application of physics to cultural heritage, in particular Ion Beam Analysis, X-Ray Fluorescence, Spectrophotometry and Luminescence based Dating. He is currently principal investigator of national projects in both research fields. He is author of more than 200 scientific publications, with around 330 citations and h-index = 33 (Scopus).
